Should C7 Corvette Be Fitted With Height-Adjustable Front Suspension?

The new C7 is a very sexy car. It has looks that rival the world’s best, which is great, but those looks come with a down-side: low clearance. With the nose of the Corvette quite low, contact with curbs and other high angles of approach are common. So doesn’t it makes sense for GM to fit the car with a variable height adjustment, so the woes of being low are met with, and overcome, by the push of a button?

This subject was brought up on our forums, and it seems to be quite a mystery as to why the Corvette isn’t fitted with something like this. Mercedes has air suspension, which solves this problem with the push of a button, but the Corvette has traditional springs. Porsche’s solution to this problem is actually quite innovative, with an adjustable front air dam. While that’s neat, this isn’t really something the Corvette — let alone the Z06 — can apply, given that all the splitters up front are carbon fiber and have simply one location. But still, there must be a way.

Is this one of the very few things that Corvette designers overlooked when making the C7?
