Parking to Avoid Damage: Does It Work?

plot1

When you ask someone to describe the sensation of driving a Corvette, they will tell you about the blistering acceleration, thumping great V8 motor, and how it negotiates the corners. In other words, they will tell you about all the dynamic nuances of our favorite American performance car. Prod deeper, and they will start to talk about mechanical parts, namely reliability and the ease of which extra horsepower is coaxed from the engine. Yet there’s one very important part of Corvette ownership that is not discussed: parking.

Your Corvette is your baby. At home, you treat it to an amazing garage, and when out and about, you take those extra few steps in order to park far away from possible door dings. You don’t even pull the usual BMW trick of taking up two spots, you stick with just one stall. Yet it still happens.

empty parking lot

I guess it is a small rant on my part, but spurred on by a post on our forum regarding those who park on the outskirts of a lot in order to avoid door ding damage. There’s a pretty good Corvette parking debate going on, so jump on in and speak up.

If only all parking lots looked like this empty one above, with plenty of room for opening doors (as pointed out in the thread).
