New NCM Sinkhole Exhibit Could Help Build Corvette Fan Base

I’ve made no bones about the fact that I haven’t been that big of a fan of all the fanfare that the National Corvette Museum got following the sinkhole.

Then again, I guess my issue with it wasn’t really about all the attention the catastrophe got. It was really more about the fact that a lot of the new fans drawn to the NCM were more excited by the idea of demolished Corvettes than pristinely preserved ones. And as a longtime fan of the American sports car, I just found that difficult to swallow.

Needless to say, over the course of the past year, some of my views on the exhibit have changed. There’s been a silver lining in that cloud hovering high above all those damaged beauties, which I now can see more clearly as we sit on the two-year mark of the catastrophe.

The fact that there’s probably no other car collection catastrophe in the world that could garner the kind of attention that the Magnificent Seven did in the aftermath of that sinkhole is a true testament to the huge appeal of Corvettes.

Now, with the addition of a number of new installments at the museum chronicling the event, as noted in the WBKO report below, even more people will be able to gain an appreciation of Corvette’s influence on the world.
