If Money’s No Object: Maserati or Corvette?
The 1960s era Corvette stands out to enthusiasts as a must-have purchase. With the classic styling, thumping V8, and ease of ownership for the not-so-rare models, it is no wonder they are cherished possessions. But if money was no object, would you be swayed to have another classic roadster such as this Maserati Ghibli? It shares quite a few appealing aspects with the Corvette, like a powerful V8 motor, stupendous exterior styling, and comfortable living within. Like the Corvette, the Ghibli rewards sporty driving, and although the Corvette might have more motorsport pedigree, the Maserati brand certainly isn’t lacking in that regard.
This one in particular might not be within everyone’s budget, which is why we are allowed to dream a little bit. Being a prototype testing mule for all remaining convertible Ghiblis, it is the very first one made, and is reported to cost north of the $1M mark. Less than 150 production Ghibli convertibles were made after its introduction in 1968, meaning that any Ghibli is on an exclusivity level equal to that of an L88. If rarity, performance, and cars with significant history are your cup of tea, would you own it?
