Hear What an 800-Horsepower Corvette Z06 Convertible Sounds Like
There is perhaps no man alive who has built a better reputation of making fast things go faster than John Hennessey. A madman with a wrench, he takes some of the greatest cars in the world and turns them up to 11, and sometimes a little farther. One of the newest creations from the team at Hennessey Performance is the HPE800 Z06 Convertible, and it is glorious in every way.
As you can likely guess from the name, this a new C7 Corvette Z06 Convertible that has had its wick cranked up to the tune of 800 horsepower. The extra power comes from a pulley swap, new cylinder heads, upgraded valve springs and lifters, plus a full intake and exhaust kit. As you would expect from something with a Hennessey badge, the car gets a full dyno tune as well, so I would expect the actual horsepower numbers to be even higher than that magic 800.
To give everyone a taste of what an 800-horsepower American V8 stuffed into a convertible sounds like, Hennessey made this “track testing” video. I put that in quotes because this is nothing but 30 seconds of visual and audible auto pornography. There is nothing even remotely close to testing happening in this video, and I think that is perfectly fine. Crank those speakers up and make sure you don’t ruin your keyboard or phone with drool.
