Gorgeous ’66 Racing Corvette With Extensive History for Sale

Corvettes for sale don’t get much cooler than this. This racing Corvette was meant for competition since the day it was delivered to its first owner in 1966. Original owner, Howard Fetterolf, had some advice from none other than Roger Penske on what options should be had. Penske recommended the L72 V8, and to back that up, J56 brakes. For use in hill-climb events, F41 suspension, and the short ratio 4:11 rear, which had power sent to it via the M21 transmission.

It was prolifically raced in hill-climbs in the Philly area and ran under SCCA A-Production in races along the East coast. Its restoration has brought the car back to the way it was raced, with lacquer based re-paint, roll hoop, and very cool, widened steel wheels. One part of the car is still up for debate: Zora himself spoke to Howard during a race and it is rumored he told of a 50 hp gain if headers were installed. Looking at the current pictures, it does not look as though they were installed. Regardless, this is still an incredible Corvette with a storied and glamorous past.
