Custom C5 Corvette Sure Is… Unique

Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. There seem to be exceptions to the rule, however, and this C5 Corvette seems to be the best evidence yet. Brought on by a slowing of business for his Canadian stainless steel fabrication company, Warren Scaife found himself with an opportunity to experiment with an otherwise written-off Corvette.

In his younger years, Scaife’s trade was custom fabrication and metal work, and there’s no doubt in the quality of the finished product. But one just has to ask why? And Scaife is be happy to answer, as he did in a recent Auto Focus Canada story. Scaife says he was inspired by the Morgan LIFECar concept (included in the side-by side picture below for reference). He says he isn’t a designer, but tried to take the visual things he liked from the Morgan and adapt them to the Corvette.

While looks may not be on it’s side, at least performance is. An added supercharger as well as other go-fast bits give Scaife a reported 665 horsepower to play with. So at least the car is as quick as people’s quickness to make opinions about it.

Will there be another? Not like this one, Scaife says. So what do you think, is that’s a good thing or not?
