Corvette Owners Tame the Tail of the Dragon
If you’ve ever driven (I mean, truly driven) the Tail of the Dragon, then you know it can be a sweat-inducing, white-knuckle ride that leaves you wondering why anyone in their right mind would want to drive it. Don’t believe me? Check out the video below.
Still, the 11-mile stretch of road with 318 curves has become a place where hundreds of auto enthusiasts flock to annually, in hopes of staking some claim in the world of performance cars.
Which is what happened this weekend when a group of Corvette owners met up together at a local Corvette Expo, then set off to tame the Tennessee landmark and try to land in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest cruise on the road.
“We got cars from 8,900 miles away that have driven here for this event and to cruise the Dragon. There is no record, so we’ll set the record and that will give us something to play off for years,” said Expo founder Byron Cooper, before the event.
Preliminary numbers indicate there were 423 ‘Vettes that participated. You can get reports from those who attended on the forum.
