George Talley story

At this year’s 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise, you’ll likely be able to spot Corvette owner George Talley by the huge grin on his face.

If you recall, Talley is the Detroiter who owns a ‘79 Corvette that was found in Mississippi almost a year ago, after being stolen in Detroit 33 years ago.

After hearing about the story, General Motors jumped in to pick up the cost to have the car shipped back to Talley in Detroit. They also fitted the bill to help him spruce up. And now the work is done, just in time the for this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise, as highlighted in a WXYZ News report.

The work on the car included a new paint job as well as a few mechanical fixes, and a completely new interior. Even GM President Mark Reuss was on hand when the makeover was first unveiled for Talley.

“This is phenomenal,” the 72-year-old Talley told WXYZ news. “This doesn’t happen every day. For an old man like me, this is something.”
