OnStar has the ability to notify police and emergency services if it detects a crash. So always drive responsibly!
Some people bring bad luck upon themselves. That’s exactly what happened to one Irishman last weekend. His Ford has a system similar to OnStar, which automatically called emergency services after he had a crash. Further complicating matters, he was driving while impaired. Luckily, it was only a single-car crash. But unluckily for the driver, the car’s built-in safety features essentially ratted him out, making easy work for the police.
Irish police even poked fun at the situation, posting on Facebook: “That’s right, you’re picking this up correctly — a CAR phoned us to let us know about a crash last night (Saturday) when it turned out the driver was drunk.”

Despite the humor in the situation, impaired driving is not a laughing matter.
GM’s OnStar service has been available for quite some time and could, in theory, snitch on you for your driving behavior, much in the same way as told in this story. Granted, we aren’t talking big-brother levels of monitoring, but stories like this show it is now more important than ever to reconsider getting on the road while impaired.
