Young Corvette Enthusiast Builds Slammed C5
A recent Corvette Forum post drew attention to Tyler Fialko’s polarizing Corvette C5 project below. With C5 values dropping steadily, many are winding up in the the hands of a new generation of Corvette enthusiasts, bringing fresh blood into the fold.
Tyler is known for building stanced cars, impossibly low creations with stretched tires, heavily cambered wheels, and a bare minimum of frame-scraping ground clearance. While most CF members dislike his approach, several appreciate his ingenuity to make the seemingly impossible work.
Even if stance isn’t your cup of unleaded, it’s clear that Tyler knows what he’s doing, and pays careful attention to the details. Tyler’s plans include leaving the car slammed for show events, and then raising it up to compete in drift events.
While adding clearance for lowered suspension and the future installation of wider wheels, he’s careful to leave mounting points intact, and discusses fabricating solutions for additional bracing and a windshield washer reservoir.
Despite the extreme cutting of the inner fenders, Tyler’s Corvette still scrapes after a test drive, meaning that more work will be necessary to make the car driveable at this height.
While he may not be modifying his C5 to suit the tastes of the average Corvette owner, Tyler’s enthusiasm for these cars is clear — notice the red Z06 in the background — and it will be interesting to see how he solves his suspension clearance issues.
