Flooded Corvettes Are Not Worth Worth the Hassle

Copious rains can happen in any part of the country, but it’s been on our minds lately because of hurricane Matthew. One Corvette Forum member’s garaged C7 got caught up in the rising waters, and now he faces a dilemma of wondering if his insurance company will actually write it off as a total loss.

With a miscalculation on how much rain water Virginia Beach would actually see, it caught many home owners off guard. By the time Jshadow arrived home from work, it was too late to do anything. Flood waters rose to the point of almost completely submerging the bottom seat cushions under water. With the Corvette’s complex wiring systems, it’s impossible to tell how well things would dry out. And electrical connections on the inside of a car are generally not made to be exposed to water. Future electrical gremlins would almost be guaranteed.

Some other members chimed in with similar experiences, and each Corvette was totaled with this amount of water damage. Hopefully Jshadow’s insurance company follows that statistic and he’ll be in a new C7 sooner than later.
