EXCLUSIVE: C7 Corvette ZR1 Caught Testing

Four Feisty-Looking ZR1 PrototypesCaught Sporting Massive Aero Elements at Laguna Seca

The Geneva Motor Show is now in the books, and it’s clear that Chevrolet chose not to unveil the new Corvette ZR1. That’s despite initial rumors, and pressure from manufacturers debuting other high-caliber sports cars.

However, to keep us abreast of the ZR1 development timeline, an awesome Corvette Forum member tipped us off about a pretty interesting fact, which could only mean one thing: ZR1 testing. Member skank let us know that GM rented Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for three days — March 14 – 16. Clearly, as these videos attest, it wasn’t to further develop the new Cruze.

Chevy showed up to the world-famous race track with not one, but four Corvette ZR1s. According to sources, two ‘Vettes sported small wings similar to the ones found in the current Z51 package, and another two test mules with massive rear wings similar to the ones on the Viper ACR.

Oh, and in case you haven’t heard, that’s exactly who Corvette is targeting with the new ZR1, given the ACR’s record-breaking racetrack spree. Rumors still abound regarding which engine will be installed in the new mega ‘Vette, with some saying it’s a 6.2 liter V8, and others believing it’ll be a similarly-supercharged motor, like in the previous model. Regardless, we’re sure it’s going to kick ass.

Enjoy!
