Corvette ZR1 Driver Well Deserving of ‘Idiot’ Award

ZR1 winds up crashing twice during police chase after reaching speeds of 132 mph.

We typically don’t condone using a word like “idiot” when referring to Corvette drivers.

It’s kind of a pet peeve for us here at Corvette Forum, for obvious reasons. But every now and then, we’ll come across one of those rare occasions when it seems fitting.

Well, in all honesty, Jalopnik beat us to the punch on this one. But it’s pretty hard to argue against the idiotic assessment. Because honestly, here’s a guy that winds up taking an amazing Corvette like the ZR1, and winds up crashing it not once, but twice during a high-speed chase with police.

Oh, and if you don’t think that earns this guy a firm idiot label, then consider this – the Corvette owner is known for posting what appear to be racing videos on his social media accounts. So, you gotta think he’s been working his way up to idiot status for quite a while.

This most recent incident, likely this guy’s last ever, started when he blew past a police officer in the ‘Vette on the freeway. That’s how the pursuit began, with the Corvette reaching speeds of 132 MPH. The Corvette driver then crashed into a van. And then he crashed again into a lawn service trailer, before being apprehended by police.

Apparently, the driver also had two passengers in the Corvette, both of whom wound up in the hospital following the accidents, along with the driver.

Now, we know what some of you might be thinking, that there’s actually more than one person deserving of the idiot award here. But in all honesty, we’re not exactly sure of the circumstances regarding the passengers. The driver, on the other hand, is well deserving of the label.
