Corvette Z06 Tested by ‘The Grand Tour,’ or at Least by Its Stars

We got a preview of what The Grand Tour will look like this past weekend when the below clip, featuring the three infamous presenters, was uploaded. Not officially a TGT production (they debut on Amazon on November 18th), this clip originally was filmed for Clarkson, Hammond & May Live. Featuring a Z06 pitted against a Mercedes AMG GT and a Porsche 911 Turbo, it tests the cars’ hot lap capabilities around the Thruxton Circuit in England. Hammond’s usual love for American cars is intentionally muted, showing that we will still get the light-hearted trio that we have come to expect.

Though the main focus is on the Z06, in the short 5-minute clip, the presenters make sure to poke and dig at their former employers every now and then too. Ben Collins, the former ousted Stig, is brought back for driving duties. His less-than-glamorous departure from the show may be the butt of a few jokes, but his form on track is just as good as ever. With Ben driving the 911 Turbo just over a second faster than the Corvette, his pace is still earning him a paycheck.
