Corvette Shop Owner Sums Up Love for America’s Sports Car
Every now and then, you come across a person who puts a fresh spin on how deeply the passion truly runs for Corvettes.
Such is the case of Darren Brown, who owns a Corvette shop called Nostalgic Enterprises in Iowa, as highlighted by the 1954 Corvette he’s working on, which sat in a garage for 40 years.
“It’s like atrophy – it’s like someone sitting on the couch for 35 years, expecting they’re going to be able to get up off the couch and run to the mailbox,” Brown told the local NBC station. “They’re going to get off the couch and be lucky if they can walk to the front door.”
The ’54 Corvette is owned by Richard Helverson, who bought the ‘Vette used in 1961.
“My family’s been bugging me for I don’t know how many years to do something — what are you going to do with that car? Why don’t you just pedal it? Or get it fixed? So, I finally decided it was time to get it fixed,” said Helverson.
But what really stands out in the story is how Brown describes his love for Corvettes: “It’s what I do.”
