Corvette Museum Shows Off World’s Only 1983 Corvette

Did you know that there was one 1983 Corvette that survived the crusher? And did you know that it was all because of a pair of new cowboy boots? Thanks to the National Corvette Museum, that story is being told today by the folks that were there when it happened in the first place. This is an excellent piece of Corvette history that has been wonderfully documented in the NCM video below. It’s a bit on the long side for today’s short attention spans, but I guarantee it’s worth checking out, particularly if you’re a fan of the C4 generation, or the Corvette at all for that matter.

The video host’s accent is infectious, and you can’t help but smile as her Southern charm walks you through the story of the lone 1983. This car’s whole reason for being spared the crusher is interesting. And really, the reason it was built in the first place is filled with intrigue too. Thank your lucky stars that it just happened to be raining that fateful day in the early 1980s.

If you haven’t yet been to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, you owe it to yourself to make that trip. I’ve only been but once, and I’ve been dying to make the trip back for years. Historically significant cars like this one are on display there, which make the trip well worth your while.
