We don’t blame our outspoken membership. $15,000 for appearance “upgrades” feels greedy.
Perhaps the age of 65 isn’t too important to GM, or to Chevrolet, given that the effort put into the Carbon 65 edition Corvette doesn’t seem to be getting anyone’s attention. If you missed the news on the new edition Corvette, we can’t really blame you.
Unlike models such as the Grand Sport and other special editions, the Carbon 65 doesn’t really offer much more than appearance upgrades. How much does it cost to celebrate a birthday party with Corvette? A cool $15,000. Yikes. That price is on top of the Grand Sport or Z06 that you’ll have to buy initially. It’ll have rarity on its side, however, with a total of just 650 made.

Understandably, our forum members have reacted with the honesty we know and love. Even after a day or two to let the news sink in, the Carbon 65 is just not well received. Most voices center on sticker shock, but many are also vocal about the tackiness of the added graphics on the car. Interestingly, the color is tough to show in photos, as it is described as “Ceramic Matrix Gray.” One can only hope it looks better in person.
This might be a good message to GM after all: Corvette owners are looking for substance, not flair.
