A Wet Track Will Sting Your Wallet If You Aren’t Careful. What Do You Do When Insurance Won’t Cover It?
Corvettes are among the most actively used sports cars when it comes to track days. Keeping your fenders aligned becomes a game of odds with each successive event you enter. So what happens when you have a crash, and you know your insurance won’t cover it?
One of our forum members, freaknbigpanda, has suffered such a fate. Unfortunately, his Corvette had an unscheduled meeting with a tree. Naturally, when something like this happens, all sorts of things go through your mind, with the most prominent being: “How much will this cost?”
With an insurance claim out of the discussion, it’s a bit easier to figure out what path you want to take to get your Corvette back in action. For his C6, freaknbigpanda is looking at aftermarket parts, or even a crash-damaged car to part out and get the necessary items to make his Z06 complete again.

It won’t be cheap though. Estimates from our forum members range from $2,500 all the way up to $20,000-plus. Needless to say, we’re interested in seeing how things take shape, and we hope that freaknbigpanda’s Z06 is on the road sooner than later.
As a side note, if you’re going to a track, don’t mismatch your tires. And definitely don’t use run-flats!
