Facebook Fridays: Every Corvette Owner Probably Could Use a Break at the Pump.
Do you find it a bit odd that a Prius and a Corvette would be hanging out together in the same garage? That’s exactly what I thought when I first stumbled upon this photo on Corvette Forum‘s Facebook page.
Then it occurred to me, owning a Toyota Prius and C6 Corvette could actually be the best of both worlds.
Well, actually the best of both worlds would preferably be a new Chevy Bolt EV and a Z06. But the point is: even with all the comfort and convenience features available in a C7 Corvette, having the option to slide into a vehicle as fuel efficient as a Prius (from time to time) seems like a pretty cool idea.
I mean, just consider this point: the 650-horsepower C7 Z06 is rated at 13 mpg/city and 23 mph on the highway. A new 121-horsepower Prius is rated at 54 mpg in the city and 50 mpg on the highway. Even the mpg on a standard C7 Corvette pales in comparison to a Prius, with a rate of 17 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Of course, there is always the issue that going with a Prius instead of a more fuel-efficient American vehicle like the Bolt (rated at 128 mpg/city and 110 mpg/highway) might leave your neighbors a lot more baffled about your contrasting taste in automobiles.
That said, the Facebook post points to a thread shared by member Patentcad, in which he might just sum it up best when he calls himself “automotively bipolar and bipartisan.”
