Newly leaked photos may point toward a reveal at 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is one of the most highly anticipated vehicles of the decade. While Chevy has kept details about the ultra-high-performance sports car under tight wraps, one of Automobile’s readers tipped off the outlet to a couple of new pictures and it looks like the Corvette ZR1 is preparing for something big. Real big!]

The Corvette ZR1, according to Automobile, was the sole rider on a 747 flight to Europe. From the pictures, we can see that the highly camouflaged Corvette has the entire plane to itself – ‘cause that’s how Chevrolet rolls – and is wearing a protective cover. It also has some funky-looking exhaust outlets peeking out from under the tarp. However, as Automobile reports, the exhaust outlets, which look utterly ridiculous, aren’t for show but are used to reduce the car’s sound on racetracks.

That last bit of information is vital because it may hint at where the Corvette ZR1 is going. If Chevrolet was planning to make a timed lap at a Nurburgring, it would need the sports car to be fitted with the system, as the Green Hell has a sound limit of 95 decibels.

Automobile also believes that a debut is possible at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, which runs from June 17 to 18. While that theory seems a bit farfetched, it would explain why Chevrolet placed the ZR1 into an airplane and quickly shipped it off to Europe, claims the site. Plus, as the outlet points out, Chevrolet can lap the Nurburgring at any time.

If Chevrolet does decide to unveil and formally present the ZR1 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it will definitely be an event to remember. Either way, we want more ZR1!
