When Strangers Touch Your Corvette
Owner returns to Corvette to find someone leaning on the bumper. Some people just cannot be trusted around other people’s stuff, unfortunately.
We Corvette owners are notoriously overprotective of our cars. That has made us the punchline of more than a few jokes, but to us, our Corvettes represent more than just a car. It takes real effort to keep them looking as good as they do, so imagine the horror of walking back to your parking space to find some stranger pawing up your ‘Vette.
That’s just what happened to CorvetteForum member jma242 recently. After parking his car at a supermarket, far away from other cars, he saw a pair of vans loading up with several rowdy older teenagers. After some of them started yelling about the car, he looked to see one leaning on the front bumper!
Naturally, he yelled at the kid, which caused them to scatter and scurry off. It’s pretty shocking to imagine that someone would just touch somebody else’s car like that, but it gets worse. Apparently, the kid had his hand and his foot on the paint! Who does that?!
Naturally, our community was quick to side with jma242. Touching someone else’s property without permission is simply unacceptable and not something any of us would do. We’d expect the same courtesy in return.
The unfortunate truth is, at the end of the day, you can’t do anything to prevent people from acting foolishly if they’re so inclined. The best advice we can offer is not to worry about it and try not to think about the possibilities.
Most people are courteous, understanding, and wouldn’t touch your Corvette without your permission. It’s a rare-enough occurrence that it’s not even worth worrying about.
If it has happened to you, though, we’d love to hear from you. Share your stories in our forum by adding your voice to the thread that inspired this article.
