Vengeance Racing Receives New Corvette ZR1, Immediately Dyno Tests Its

Vengeance has big plans for their Corvette ZR1, but every plan needs a foundation.

Vengeance Racing is known for their high performance builds, and earlier this month, the Georgia-based GM experts took delivery of their 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 development car. The shop has plans for this car that will lead to new offerings of high performance packages, but first, the team has to see what the beast makes at the wheels in stock form.

The ZR1 Arrives

The video from the Vengeance Racing YouTube channel begins with their 2019 Corvette ZR1 shop car showing up in an enclosed trailer. We watch as the gorgeous orange supercar is gently backed out of the trailer, followed by a couple good, hard pulls on the street in front of the shop as a large crowd looks on.

Of course, there is also plenty of time for the spectators on hand to get a close-up look at the LT5-powered Chevy supercar before the new ‘Vette heads into the shop for a baseline dyno pull.

LT5 in Action

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is powered by the new GM LT5 – a 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 that offers advertised figures of 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers are engine horsepower figures and with the impact of upgrades being measured in wheel horsepower, the shop needs to make some stock dyno runs to get a baseline number.

After gradually bringing the new Corvette up through the gears, the driver puts the hammer down and lets the LT5 scream, pulling hard for several seconds before lifting.

We then see the dyno sheet with printed figures of 641.45 horsepower and 641.47 lb-ft of torque, but the screen reads 646 horsepower and 646 lb-ft of torque. Perhaps the difference comes from some correction method, but in any case, those are some solid figures for a bone stock 2019 Corvette ZR1 with the 8-speed automatic transmission.
