Most people are fully aware of the engine oil and the requirements and routine maintenance required to keep your car moving. Engine oil is the lifeblood of any vehicle. But if engine oil is the lifeblood, where does transmission fluid stand? If your answer is not “a close second,” then this may be an important item for you to read. One could consider transmission fluid the synovial fluid of your Corvette.
For those of you who have not pulled up Google yet, synovial fluid is what reduces friction around the joints in your body during movement. Without it, your bones would grind together while you tried to move. Does not sound fun to us, either.

So how do you know if you need to change your transmission fluid? That’s where today’s How-To Spotlight comes into play. We want to teach you the proper way to check your transmission fluid. It’s a process takes a bit of patience, and you cannot skip or swap any steps along the way. There are no shortcuts with these steps. Hopefully, all you need to do is change your fluid. Worse case would be your having to replace gears or the transmission itself.
