Pristine 1956 Corvette Roadster to Hit Auction Block in SoCal

For vintage ‘Vette collectors, this month’s McCormick’s Collector Car Auction in Palm Springs is going to be particularly exciting.

For its Nov. 17-19 event in Palm Springs, California, McCormick’s Collector Car Auction is bringing in classic vehicles that have not been on the revolving auction circuit before, including what the auction house describes as “one of the most well-restored and correctly-restored 1956 Corvette Roadsters on the market.”

The classic 1956 Chevy Corvette Roadster, which won the NCRS Top Flight Award in 2016, is equipped with the correct early engine components, including the dual-quad carburetors, the rare oil pan with passenger side dipstick, correct ignition shielding, generator mounting bracket, and super-rare 2-bolt exhaust manifolds. Additionally, this nicely-optioned California car has the 225hp dual-quad engine, Powerglide automatic transmission, power windows, Wonder Bar radio, windshield washer system, and heater and amp, as well as defroster.

There is no word on what the opening bid on this gem might be. However, another rare find — a 1936 Packard LaBaron All-Weather Cabriolet that may have been owned by Charlie Chaplin — has a range estimate from the low $100s to $150,000. So, we assume that bidding on the 1956 Roadster may also require taking out a second mortgage, and would be so worth it.
