Corvette Bummer: Driver Creates His Own Sandwich Shop Drive-Thru
We’ve heard of ‘fast’ food but this is a little bit ridiculous.
Maybe it’s just us, but it sure seems like there’s a nationwide epidemic of vehicles smashing into store fronts these days. This latest incident comes to us from the military town of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and sadly enough, involves a Corvette. According to the The Fayetteville Observer, the driver was attempting to park in front of Robertson’s Sandwiches when he mistook the gas pedal for the brake.
Of course, you know what happened next. Not only did the Corvette smash into a support column outside, it kept going and took a nosedive through the glass window of the sandwich shop. Much to the surprise of the shop’s owner, Frank Fernandez, who was just trying to close up after a long day of performing sandwich art.
“We were about to close and I heard a crash,” Fernandez said. “I saw the car lunge, then it stopped, then it lunged again through the window.” And then, the Corvette kept going until it finally stopped in the middle of the shop.
If that wasn’t terrifying enough, Fernandez’s eight-year old son was standing in the middle of the restaurant when all this was going down. He managed to snag the boy after jumping across some tables, but he wound up pinned between the car and food counter. Thankfully (and amazingly), neither suffered anything more than cuts and bruises, however. Even the driver only suffered a cut to the forehead.
Maybe it’s time to go back to basics in terms of driver education. Heck, we used to have to drive with three pedals, now we can’t even drive with two! And let this serve as an important lesson. No matter how much you might be craving that big ol’ sloppy sub, haste can quickly turn into waste!
