Corvette Forum member Late Model Racecraft cleans up the mess of another builder, and then cranks it to 11.

Success stories come in many shapes and sizes,  and this one from forum user LMR actually started under some unfortunate circumstances. Racer Bill Riggall’s C7 Z06 had suffered a complete engine failure at a 1/2 mile drag race event late last year in Dallas. Late Model Racecraft happened to be at the track when this happened, and they did what they could to help.

Help was offered in the way of having Riggall’s car shipped to LMR’s shop for them to prepare it for the Ocala 1/2 mile race. With a three-month time frame, LMR had to get the car back up and running, and also fix miscellaneous issues which were found.

Clearly, LMR’s work paid off. Power output was recorded at 1,203 horsepower, and 946 lb/ft of torque. LMR did keep its promise of having the car complete before the Florida 1/2 mile race. Riggall’s fastest run had a trap speed of 185.03 miles per hour, but just because the car was out of the shop didn’t mean LMR’s work was done. They had been remotely tuning the car all weekend long for the Ocala race to maximize the LMR1000 build they’d done for the car.

Room for improvement can still be found for this car, but it was already believed to be the fastest C7 at the event. With a better surface, and stickier tires, 185 miles per hour will be easily surpassed. Obviously, we cant wait to see this car get even faster throughout the season.
