C6 Corvette Z06 vs. Porsche 911 GT3 RS: Drag Race

We think the Russian commentators are saying the Corvette is better than the Porsche, right?

Do you know any Russian? If so, then this is the video for you. Obviously, since it’s just a racing video, you can enjoy it with or without the audio commentary, but for those of us who don’t know Russian, we have to guess as to what the commentators are saying in this battle between a Corvette Z06 and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. One thing we do know for sure are the results.

The results tell two completely different stories. First off, clearly the Porsche GT3 RS crossed the ½-mile mark faster than the Z06. There’s no denying that.

However, when you break down the stats just a little bit, you start to see something different. Maybe it wasn’t as one-sided as your eyes perceived.

Now, let’s get this out of the way: the Porsche GT3 RS is no slouch. The vehicle shown in the video is said to have 500 horsepower, so this car can definitely move. Compared with the 700 horsepower coming out of the Corvette Z06, you may wonder how the GT3 RS did so well.

The Porsche came off the line faster and the acceleration gave it a fairly significant lead through the early goings. But when the ½-mile mark was cleared, and you saw the times and speed at the ¼-mile mark as well, you see the Z06 was definitely closing in and would have overtaken the Porsche sooner than later.

At the finish, the Porsche clocked in at approx. 243 kph (approx. 151 mph) and the Corvette was clocked at approx. 249 kph (approx. 155 mph). When you look at those numbers, it’s clear that given just a little bit longer, the Corvette is arguably the superior vehicle.

That’s probably what the Russian commentators were saying, right?
