It takes some big balls to hustle a C3 L88 big block V8 Corvette around Daytona. In this video by Historic Sportscar Racing you can see the talent it takes to control a big power vintage Corvette on the limit. You also get an rare look at what it is like to be behind the wheel. In a car like this, just a tickle too much throttle and you’re sideways. Big power race cars of today use aerodynamics and electronic traction control to keep the car in check. This vintage style driving is the best to watch, and French racing driver Jules Gounon makes is look easy.

Gounon is just 22 years old and he already has some serious experience. Finishing second at the Daytona 24, winning the 24 Hours of SPA, and claiming the championship in the ADAC GT Masters series, well, that’s just what he did in 2017.

He got his start in karting and quickly found that the talent for driving fast was in his blood. His father is Jean-Marc Gounon, who ran Formula One and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a McLaren F1 GTR in 1997. The apple does not fall too far from the tree. Or in this case the size of the apples are relative to the ability to slide a race car around the track. And these guys have some big apples.

It is the soundtrack of America.
