C2 Corvette Sports 9,409 Original Miles, But Is It Legit?
This uniquely optioned, potentially very rare C2 Corvette is almost too perfect. But it has the hardware to back it up!
The holy grail in the Corvette world is up for debate. But everyone can agree that original, low-mile cars are the most desirable. We’ve seen some pretty rare fiberglass go for huge money in recent years, which can be a good thing and a bad thing. Sure, we all love seeing these well-preserved beauties, of course. But extremely high prices also lead unsavory types to try and cheat the system for cash. Which we hope isn’t the case with this incredible C2 Corvette we spotted on Craigslist.
Make no mistake, this is a truly amazing, beautiful car, with nary a defect anywhere. But if you’re paying $135,000 for a 327/300 hp, automatic transmission 1965, you’re gonna want some documentation. Sure enough, this C2 Corvette shows a mere 9,409 miles on the odometer. And in all fairness, it’s a very interesting and rarely optioned car. For starters, only 2,423 Corvettes came equipped with air conditioning this model year. And yet, it’s also a radio delete car!
Most radio delete rides were obviously the higher performance variants, making this base engine/2-speed Powerglide transmission C2 Corvette a strange bird, indeed. But oh, what a beautiful bird. Everything here, from the bodywork and interior to engine bay looks almost too perfect. But with both a 2004 Bloomington Survivor Award and a 2005 Duntov Mark of Excellence Award from the National Corvette Restorers Society, who are we to doubt it?
Neither of those awards are exactly easy to win. A mere 1,407 cars have received the Duntov distinction, which means they’ve achieved at least a 97.5% originality score. Bloomington requires cars to be at least 80% factory correct. But the real question is, what’s happened since 2005? Has the car been repainted or restored? Or is it really everything the seller claims it to be?
