C1 Restomod Sports C5 Power & Beautiful Red Interior

Prolific ‘Vette owner Jerry Lyndon’s C1 Corvette comes close to perfection.

Any seasoned car collector will tell you that pulling off a great restomod can be a lot harder than most might think. If the custom work deviates too far from the nameplate’s authenticity, the project risks losing its appeal. That alone can sink its value down the road.

Clearly, Jerry Lyndon has a pretty firm grasp on the formula, as showcased in his own unique take on this hot ’58 Corvette restomod, highlighted by Super Chevy. Then again, we are talking about a guy who has owned more than 100 ‘Vettes over the years.

You get the sense that this custom mod ranks as one of his favorites. Given Lyndon’s long and interesting history with the Corvette, that really comes as no surprise. We’ll leave you to read about his background in the Super Chevy article to get a better scope of his ties to the car. Instead, we will zero in on some of the car’s special mods.

The restomod starts with a C5 drivetrain crafted into a custom C1 frame that stretches five inches longer than the standard C1 body, underneath. A C6 ZR1 Corvette donated the wheels, which measure 18″ x 10″ up front and 19″ x 11″ in the back. One of the restomod’s most unique features is its hood. Fitting it required grafting a ’66 Corvette big-block Stinger hood on the car to provide its muscular stance.

Inside, Lyndon’s Corvette features a mix of both C1 and C5 components crafted with a red interior. That combo really makes the restomod pop when paired with the car’s black paint work. Power comes courtesy of a 345-horsepower 5.7-liter LS1 paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Like we said, if you’re going to do a Corvette restomod, this is certainly the way to do it.
