New 2017, 2018 and 2019 C7 Corvettes are looking for homes.
It’s an odd time right now for Chevrolet and the C7 Corvette. Due to a factory retooling, the Bowling Green plant where Corvettes are born had a temporary hiatus. The rumor is that this was done to accommodate an upcoming C8 Corvette, though, Chevy says otherwise. Regardless, that means that the 2018 production run for the C7 Corvette was extraordinarily short. This, in combination with an dealer overstock of 2017 models, as well as an early jump start on 2019 models means that there are currently three model years of Corvette on dealers lots.
In short, depending on what each specific dealer has on their lot, or their allocation list, you can buy a 2017, 2018 and a 2019 Corvette, at the same time. Naturally, the latest and greatest are the easiest models to sell, so both GM, and its dealer network are willing to play ball with buyers.
What does this mean for the consumer? Big discounts, of course.
One of our sister sites, CarsDirect, has all of the juicy details. In short, for anyone tempted by a C7 Corvette, now is the time to pounce on a leftover 2017 model. For those who want to make monthly payments on their ‘Vette, Chevy very amusingly offers a $2,017 bonus that you can combine with 4.9% APR for up to 60 months. What an oddly specific number.

But two grand is chump change, because the real story is in a term called “Flex Cash,” that applies to both 2017 and 2018 Corvettes. Flex Cash is a level of heavy discounts, that varies from dealer to dealer. It’s wiggle room in the purchase price, that benefits the shrewd negotiators out there. 2017 Corvettes have up to $8,000 in flex cash, while 2018 models have up to $6,000 available. If you stack that with the available $2017 discount, you can get over $10,000 off the price of a 2017 ‘Vette. Wow.
For those who want the latest and greatest, there are no such offers available for 2019 models, which is no surprise. With the anticipation of the 2019 ZR1, we suspect there won’t be much flex in those prices. People are scooping them up as fast as dealers get an allocation, and for good reason.
