Business Insider Pits Corvette Grand Sport Against Aston Martin DB11

Corvette Grand Sport and Aston Martin DB11 have $200,000 price difference, but they sure do match up well in other areas.

While it might seem daft to compare a sports car like the C7 Grand Sport to an ultra luxury Aston Martin DB11 Volante, Business Insider went ahead and did it anyway. Wondering the reason behind the comparison? To show just how much of the DB11’s enjoyment you get from a vehicle which costs a cool $200,000 less. Fair enough, so let’s get to how they compare on paper.

Utilizing the V8 from the standard Stingray, the Grand Sport churns out 460 horsepower. While the Aston martin’s V8 is 2.2 liter’s smaller than the Corvette’s 6.2 liter unit, it does have two turbos nestled between the cylinder banks. Borrowed from Mercedes’ AMG division, this V8 makes 505 horsepower and has the upper hand in sheer pace.

The Aston Martin also has the upper hand in terms of quality, too. Attention to detail is where the British roadster really shines. Leather that comes from the best sources, incredible craftsmanship throughout and those seat backs! In the case of this car, it is very evident where your money is going, and you’re never left in disappointment.

However, that’s not to suggest the Corvette is a lousy place to be. Quite the opposite, in fact. The C7 Corvette comes with everything you’d want in a modern upscale roadster, especially when you’re dropping $70,000 on it.

But where they differ is in their approach to a specific customer. Aston Martin’s clientele are obviously demanding a far more luxurious experience, where as those who buy a Grand Sport are looking at things from the perspective of getting the Z06’s handling performance, with the more approachable, non-supercharged V8. But as pointed out, its value that comes on as the Chevrolet’s strongest asset. There’s no denying the $200,000 price difference.
