Bone-Stock Z06 Battles Methed-Out ZL1 in Nighttime Showdown
On the highways of [REDACTED], two brutally fast Chevy muscle cars showcase all of their supercharged horsepower.
At the top of the hills around Bowling Green stands the ZR1. The first step down is the Z06, though it’s only a small step (and it weighs less than the ZR1, too). On tap is 650 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque from its supercharged aluminum 6.2-liter V8, all sent to the back through either a seven-speed manual or eight-speed paddle-shifted auto. Surely it can handle a less prestigious muscle car, like the Camaro ZL1, which uses the same engine with the same output paired with a six-speed manual or the eight-speed auto, right?
CarsNTech shows us what happens when a bone-stock 2019 Z06 goes up against a ZL1 on performance-enhancing drugs. The challenger is hopped-up on a tune and pulley with meth, good for an extra 50 horses exploding from the gate like Justify at the Kentucky Derby.
Followed by a Dodge Charger Hellcat acting as the camera car, the Z06 and the methed-out ZL1 go out for a little night time cruise on the highways to determine who made who. The first brief battle sees the ZL1 easily pull away from the Z06 before dropping back to let the ‘Vette experience a little glory out front (and probably because they were about to hit traffic).
A few moments later, the second and final battle is carried out, and once again, the ZL1 handily runs away with the ball over the bone-stock Z06. Though defeated, our hero can hold its headlights up high, knowing it was beaten by a ZL1 that needed a lot of help to throw down against Bowling Green’s finest. We’re sure this Z06 will undergo the same treatment down the road in order to remind all ZL1s who’s the boss.
