Award-Winning, Big Block C3 Corvette is One Special Find
Unrestored, big-block Corvettes aren’t exactly easy to find these days. Especially when they’re as nice as this one!
Unrestored, numbers-matching, 454/365hp, 4-speed Corvettes don’t exactly grow on trees. Which, of course, makes this stunning Steel Cities Gray example we spotted on Bring a Trailer one truly special find. Even better, this isn’t one of those (admittedly many) internet finds that makes you immediately skeptical. For starters, this stunning C3 Corvette is a Bloomington Gold Survivor and National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Second Flight award winner.
Aside from the desirable big-block and manual drivetrain, there’s plenty to like about this C3 Corvette. It’s also equipped with power steering, power brakes, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, and removable rear window. The current owner, who just acquired the car seven months ago, also installed a modern Vintage A/C unit. But it’s nothing that’s hard to remove or would essentially devalue the car. And all the factory HVAC stuff comes with it, too.
Of course, nothing survives this long without some kind of defects. And as you might imagine, there are a few nicks and chips in the paint. As well as a hole in the rear bumper. But otherwise, this C3 Corvette is quite the looker. Aside from general maintenance, all the original stuff is intact. The interior is remarkably clean too, with an odometer showing only 43k miles.
The current owner has performed all the requisite maintenance on the car, including replacing the shocks, brake pads, and performing an alignment. And despite that, he’s only driven it a whopping 200 miles. Assuming he bought the car for a reasonable price, we really can’t blame him. Original big-block Corvettes aren’t exactly common these days. And when they do surface, they usually bring good money. If nothing else, it’ll be interesting to see where this particular car winds up!
