Do the Grand Sport’s Stingray engine and Z06 flair really hit the spot?

When the current-generation Corvette Grand Sport was announced, it was with much fanfare. After all, this has always been the true enthusiasts’ ‘Vette. But when the engine specs were released, some of these same folks were somewhat disappointed. Why? Chevy opted for enhancing the handling and looks department, instead of adding more ponies.

Grand Sport

Did they get it wrong? No, heck no. Corvette Forum recently had the chance to get behind the wheel of the new Grand Sport at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and it blew our pants off. But now, it’s up to Redline to let us know what they think of the convertible model, and if the recipe is still as spicy as before.

Before you go off on your own and watch the entire 26-minute video review, it’s worth understanding that when we speak of “Chevy not adding more power,” and having the “same ponies as the ‘regular’ C7,” we don’t mean it in a negative manner. After all, the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 in the Grand Sport produces a hefty 460 horsepower, which is good for a 3.6 second 0-60 mph sprint.

You can trust us when we say that “it’s plenty of power for the above-Average Joe.”

With that in mind, enjoy the show!
