Would You Trust Using Amazon-branded Oil in Your Corvette?
Online retail giant has now moved into selling its own inexpensive automotive oil. But would you trust it?
There are at least two things we can count on in life. And we aren’t talking about death and taxes. No, we’re referring to the fact that lots of people will always try to find the cheap way out of everything.
Secondly, you know that Amazon is slowly working to take over our entire lives. The latest proof of both is the fact that the once humble online book seller now makes and sells its own automotive oil. But surprisingly (or unsurprisingly, if you’re a fan), this oil has actually received some rave reviews.
Yes, in fact, Amazon’s fully synthetic oil has, thus far, an average 4.5 star rating. All for something that costs a mere $19.99 for five quarts. Compare that to the price of other, established brands, and that’s what we like to call a bargain. It’s actually made by Warren, a company that also produces (obviously) its own oil. Read through the reviews, and most folks have had good experiences with it so far, too.
Even more impressively, more than half the viscocities are already sold out. Which isn’t really a surprise, going back to our point about people wanting to save a buck. But those of you reading this are obviously car guys. And we’re the type of folks who don’t skimp on things like oil, which is obviously a very important component of keeping your engine running properly.
So it’s worth asking, would you consider running Amazon oil in your Corvette? Even though it’s made by an established company, they’re also a budget seller. Is saving a few bucks up front really worth the risk? Personally, we’d be hesitant. But then again, Amazon’s branded stuff is typically pretty darn good. Still, there are plenty of other, much less dangerous ways to save money in life!
