Mid-engine Corvette sounds incredible as it is pushed to its limits on the world’s toughest road course.

Since the long-awaited introduction of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette back in July, the new mid-engine American sports car has been the talk of the town. At this point, we have learned everything that we could want to know about the next-generation Corvette, from power numbers to pricing and from 0-60 times to option availability. What General Motors hasn’t offered us is any real footage of the mid-engine car in action, so we searched the internet for some good track footage of the C8.

What we found is a 12-minute video of the eighth generation Corvette working out at the Nurburgring in Germany. There have been some brief clips of the C8 on “the ‘Ring”, but none of them offer the volume of high-performance action that we get from this clip from the Carspotter Jeroen YouTube channel.

C8 Corvette Working Out

This video was published on July 4, 2019, which was before the formal debut of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette on July 18. Even if we couldn’t see the publish date of the video, the fact that this car is still wearing the black-and-white camouflage along with the date of the debut makes it clear that this testing was conducted prior to the world debut, but it was obviously after Chevrolet started openly teasing us with test cars on open roads.

That being said, this appears to be a C8 Stingray, devoid of any of the extreme aero bits which are likely to come on the spicier mid-engine models. We are guessing that this is a Z51 model, but in the long run, this video isn’t about which Corvette is in action – this video is all about seeing and hearing the mid-engine sports car while being pushed to its limits.

Legendary Car, Legendary Track

The footage above was provided by a car spotting YouTube channel, not General Motors, so there is no camera on or in the car. Instead, there are photographers positioned around the track, catching whatever footage they can of special vehicles like the C8 Corvette. As a result, we don’t get any solid laps or lap times, but we do get footage of the mid-engine ‘Vette blasting around the world’s most famous road course.

During the 12-minute video, we see the C8 Corvette taking on some of the famous turns of the Nurburgring, along with stretching its legs and even getting a little air-time over one of the course’s jumps. While we don’t know how quickly it got around the entire track, this footage shows that the C8 Stingray gets around the legendary race track with confidence, hopefully leading to another record-setting time by an American sports car.
