If the stock C7 ZR1 isn’t hot enough for you, Late Model Racecraft has you covered with the 1,000 hp LMR1000 package!
The C7 Corvette ZR1 is one of the hottest cars to ever wear the crossed flags on its nose. How do you make a C7 ZR1 even hotter? That’s a question best answered by Late Model Racecraft (LMR) out of Houston, Texas.
Late Model Racecraft is serious about horsepower. They offer several packages to seriously wake up your Corvette with big power.
So, just how big are we talking? The car in this video has been upgraded to LMR1000 spec – if you haven’t guessed, that’s 1,000 thundering, stampeding horsepower at your disposal.
Believe it or not, that’s actually the middle of the road for LMR ZR1s. They offer an LMR1200 package as well, in addition to an LMR900 package.
As the host of the video explains, there are two main differences between the LMR900 and LMR1000 package. “We went with a new cam, and a lower pulley. So now we’re making more boost, the cam is providing more fuel, and let me tell you…this thing rips!”
According to LMR’s website, the rest of the LMR1000 package is made up of intake and exhaust mods, as well as upgraded valvetrain components to support a hotter cam. Those mods include double valve springs, hardened pushrods, and an upgraded timing chain tucked safely away behind a billet front cover. Dyno tuning and a custom ECM are the finishing touch that allows everything to work together.
So, what’s it like to drive this monster? The owner has waited to really stomp the throttle until he brings us along for the ride. In this way, we become a part of the experience. That’s the next best thing to sliding behind the wheel ourselves, right?
First off, this thing sounds rowdy. The owner’s smiles and laughs tell us everything we need to know. As he says, “I didn’t think it was possible to love this car more than I already do!” He also describes it as “an animal” and “completely insane.” That’s what we like to hear.
When the owner gets back home, he describes the experience as “the best drive of my life.” Here’s to hoping that we get a chance to experience one of these machines soon. Late Model Racecraft, are you listening?
