Upstate New York Dealership Showcases Visit by 2020 Corvette

Albany’s DeNooyer Chevrolet is among 125 dealerships participating in Corvette tour through December.

Now that the biggest wait is over, a new wait has taken its place: the showroom arrival of the 2020 Corvette. Months from now, thousands of mid-engine machines will grace the floors of the dealers certified to handle the sales and care of America’s beloved sports car. No doubt there are more than a few of us who want to see the eight-gen two-seater in person, though.

If you happen to live near one of the 125 dealers who will be visited by the new Corvette, though, you won’t have to wait long, because it’s making the rounds on a months-long tour from now through December. Albany, New York, ABC affiliate WTEN-TV was at one of the stops, DeNooyer Chevrolet, to see why the C8 era will be one of the Corvette’s greatest ever.

“It’s special,” says the Corvette tour staff member in the video. “You can pick whatever you want. You can make your Corvette exactly what your dream car has always been. The Corvette has always been an attainable sports car, but now it’s an attainable supercar, and it has that excitement to it.”

The main draw of the tour is, of course, the fact that this is a real, production-ready, mid-engine Corvette. According to the staff member, the new engine placement means a 60/40 weight distribution, providing the rears more grip than ever before, thus ensuring the 495 horses from the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated LT2 V8 hit every inch of the ground out of the gate.

“Everything is electric,” the staff member said. “Electric steering, electric braking, drive-by-wire brakes. There is a fail-safe plan in place for both of those systems. So, in case the electrics fail, you’re not stuck; you can still drive your car perfectly normally.”

He adds that the tons of cameras and other safety tech on the new Corvette will help you navigate through the sketchiest of situations. There’s a pair of cameras up front to go with the rear backup camera and the separate rear view camera, plus cross-traffic alert to avoid possible T-bones; the only ones go in the frunk, after all.

“[We have] whatever kind of leather you want,” he said in regards to interior customization options. “We have eight different to choose from. Twelve exterior colors, stitching colors, steering wheel colors. You can really make it your own more than ever before.”

Now all we have to do is keep marking down the days until the first new ‘Vettes hit the showroom. The new year can’t come soon enough.
