Supercharged C6 Corvette Grand Sport for Sale: Run to Buy, or Run Away?
C6 Corvette Grand Sport is priced at just $26,900, leading one member to ask whether it is too good to be true.
Each time that Chevrolet introduces a new model year of the Corvette, especially with major changes such as a generational shift to a mid-engine design, the price of current models in the used market drop. Since the C8 has been introduced with a price starting under $60,000, an influx of C7 models in the used market has brought down the price of the current generation while also driving down the prices of the C6 in the used market.
While looking through Corvettes listed for sale on CarGurus.com, “weezon” came across the C6 Grand Sport convertible shown here. Listed for just $26,900, this white ragtop caught his eye based on its price, but it is also fitted with an Edelbrock supercharger, so for that price, the buyer is getting a car with far more power than a stock Grand Sport. However, the OP isn’t sure if the low price is a great deal or a sign of a hidden problem, leading him to tap the community for their input on the car.
Supercharged Corvette Grand Sport Introduction
When the OP first posted the discussion on this 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport for sale, he provided a link to the CarGurus listing, along with his question to the forum.
This is not my car but seems like a killer deal. The interior is a bit much for me but the mods make it seem under valued. Thoughts?
You can click here for a look at that listing, but the basic rundown is that it is a 2010 Corvette Grand Sport 3LT convertible with just under 58,000 miles on the odometer. It has a white exterior, a red top and a custom red-and-white two tone interior, but most importantly, it has an Edelbrock Eforce supercharger. The Livernois Motorsports logo on the blower lid leads us to believe that Livernois handled the install and tune, so with this being a well-known, well-respected shop in Metro Detroit, this build was likely done right.
The Community Responds
The first person to offer a detailed response was “cmonkey713”, who likes the car, but not the location.
Just looking at the information provided on the link it seems reasonable. Good color, good interior color, 3LT equipment, 57K miles not bad on the surface. You can’t tell much from the pics as to condition and maintenance which is always the unknown factor. Depending on where the subject car is located would there be any way to have someone look at it for you? Personally I would never buy a used car without laying hands on it myself. On the surface it looks like a reasonable deal, ball is in your court.
“Spaceme1117” also likes the car for the price.
Car looks good in the pictures. E-force is a great upgrade. Check it out in person.
I like the red top with the white paint. Interior looks a bit loud but could be fine.
After several members explained that the price is low because the supercharger and custom interior don’t add to the value, “GS982” pointed out the upsides to this approach.
Edelbrock engineers their E-Force kits to be motor friendly. I would have no problem buying a used car with one as long as it appeared the kit had been installed as intended and not hacked together with a bunch of other modifications. I believe the reason for the low price is all the appearance modifications. Keep in mind if a dealer has to list it below market value, you could very easily lose you a** when you go to trade or sell down the road. That being said, I imagine 3 or 4 grand could get the interior and painted trim addressed and it still wouldn’t be a bad deal.
Finally, “Buckmeister2” offered the common sense answer for anyone considering a car like this Corvette.
If you really like the car, it is a very good deal. If you do not like the colors or interior, or the mods, then it is NOT a good deal. My point is, you need to LOVE the Vette you buy, or you will be regretting things when you run across one that you wish you had bought. If I liked white for a color choice, I would certainly consider this car. The mods don’t concern me, and the jazzy, a-bit-too-much colors are actually very cool, and touch on the history of the very first Polo White/red interior Vettes. Check it through. If you really like it, don’t hesitate if it checks out well.
