Street Racing Corvette Runs from the Police and Escapes

Audi R8 and Corvette are having a great run when the red-and-blue lit up their rear view.

The video above comes from the Shots by Jacob YouTube channel and it features what appears to be a C6 Chevrolet Corvette participating in a high speed roll race with an Audi R8. What starts off as a great street race turns into a high stakes run for freedom, with the Chevy sports car leaving the Audi in the dust as they both disappear into the night.

The Race

The details are short, but we know that the camera car is a Chevrolet Corvette with 800 horsepower and based on what little we can see of the gauge cluster, it is a C6 car. There is also a still of a silver C6 Corvette in the video title screen, which is likely the car from the race. The Audi R8 also has 800 horsepower, so it seems like a good, even race and when the two hammer down on three, the race is as close as we would expect.

On go, the Audi hops out to a slight lead, but the Corvette draws even and appears to have the momentum to take the lead when the R8 lifts. The cameraman looks through the rear window to see where the Audi went, at which point he sees the red and blue flashing lights of a police car. He tells the driver and the two decide that, like the R8, they aren’t interested in speaking with the police, so they also take off.

The Chase

The Corvette and Audi were racing on an open, fairly empty highway, allowing both of them to hit big speed while running from the police. At one point, the cameraman shows the speedometer and it looks like the C6 is going around 120 to 140 miles per hour, allowing it to pull away from the police and blow past the R8.

After a few minutes of hard, high speed driving, the Corvette driver kills the lights, exits and returns to the highway, heading into the other direction.
