Sleek 1966 C2 Is Corvette of the Year ‘Appearance Mods’ Winner!
Corvette Forum member’s ‘Black_Magic’ dazzles us with his clean and completely sinister ’66 coupe.
There are many amazing Corvettes posted on Corvette Forum. Every member has a voice here. And it’s something we really cherish. Democracy in action is something we can all get behind. And for the third time this week we’re back to discussing another winner of the C2 Corvette of the Year contest.
This year’s winners were separated into four categories. This specific contest focused on the best Corvette that’s been aesthetically enhanced. We’re happy to announce “Black_Magic” as the “Appearance Modifications” winner! The 1966 C2 is owned by George Janssen and received 16 votes, or about 25% of total votes cast in what was an extremely crowded field.
Here’s Janssen’s description of his sinister-looking C2:
’66 Coupe – 383 – 200-4r – PS – PW – Teak – Tele – A/C
Appearance mods: BB Hood – Side Exhaust – 18″ Billett Specialties Wheels – Tinted Windows – Debadged
Janssen–or “Black_Magic” as he’s known in the forums–is a veteran Corvette Forum member, having been with the community for almost 20 years. He currently owns a 1969 Corvette convertible in addition to the featured 1966 coupe. At least five other Corvettes have graced his garage in the past, in addition to a diverse lineup of other classics.
Perhaps the best aspect of his 1966 coupe pertains to the six sequential tail lights that he installed himself. They look incredible and give the C2 an excellent aesthetic. He even created his own thread on the subject. He’s also completed numerous upgrades on his Corvette. Repainting the rear calipers? Yup, he’s done that. Transmission swap? Totally. Replaced the PowerGlide with a 200-4R transmission. Fuel injection upgrade? Mission accomplished. The ’66 received a Holley Sniper EFI system thanks to him. Engine swap? Completed. The winning coupe now has a BluePrint 383 Stroker crate engine as a heart. And we can’t leave out the sexy side pipe installation that occurred on his watch. It’s a tasty modification that makes us lick our lips.
Has Janssen’s ride won you over yet? If it hasn’t, we may really need to resort to some kind of sorcery to get your heart beating again, because this is one fine vehicle. Corvette Forum is lucky to have a guy like him around. Fortunately, he’s set up his own site to chronicle his modifications. It’s very clearly a valuable resource for C2 owners looking for some inspiration and advice.
Congrats on winning the appearance modification category Black_Magic! Your tasteful upgrades have created an incredible looking Corvette that deserves our respect. Stay tuned for the final C2 Corvette of the Year winner.
