Salvage C6 Corvette Grand Sport Rebuild Is Finally Finished

After many endless days and nights of wrenching, this C6 Corvette passes inspection and gets back on the road.

We’ve all been there. You see the insanely cheap prices of salvaged cars and think to yourself, “Hey, I can fix that.” And maybe you can. Or, maybe you buy the wrecked car and it turns out to be a massive, money sucking project. That’s the inherent risk you take with salvaged cars, of course. But it’s a hobby that YouTuber Samcrac clearly enjoys. And it also just so happens that his latest rebuild, a C6 Corvette Grand Sport, really caught our eye.

If you’ve been following along, you already know that this C6 Corvette project hasn’t been without its bumps and bruises along the way. But now that it’s finished, we can confidently say it was all worth it. Especially after the ‘Vette gets a good scrub down, something it needed sorely after sitting outside for months.

After all that, it was down to the details. A new airbag clockspring went in, followed by the seats and belt buckles. A pesky airbag light put a quick halt to the rebuild, however. A quick reset from the seller took care of that problem, however. The car then threw up a couple of generic codes, which just turned out to be non-issues related to parts being in a various array of disassembly.

So the real question now is, can this salvaged C6 Corvette pass an inspection? After many days and nights of thrashing, it’s a pretty dramatic moment. But it went incredibly smooth and everything passed with flying colors.

Even better? His total investment is incredibly low for an 8,000-mile C6 Corvette Grand Sport. Way less than $20k, in fact, by the time it’s all said and done. All of which just makes us want to go out and start our very own salvage project!
