A long road trip in a Corvette is a fun time, but it’s even more fun with friends!
Every five years, the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky celebrates their achievements in preserving Corvette history. How, you ask? With one of the biggest Corvette rallies in the world!
The Corvette Caravan sees groups of Corvette enthusiasts from all over the country drive their cars to Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette Caravan culminates in four days of festivities, from August 28 to August 31.
One group of high-performance pilgrims is on their way from Carson City, Nevada, according to a news report from Nevada Appeal. Starting on Friday, August 23, the Mid Pacific Central Caravan group will make their way from Carson City to Bowling Green.
According to National Corvette Museum director of marketing and communications Katie Ellison, “We are fortunate to have loyal Corvette enthusiasts who serve as volunteer captains for this massive event. They spend years coordinating their trek across the country, planning fun stops along the way.”
Leading the charge for the Mid Pacific Central caravan is Don Herzer, who actually hails from northern California. This is Herzer’s third caravan, participating in 2009 and leading in 2014. This year marks an important milestone for the National Corvette Museum: 25 years in operation.
Leading the caravan group is a real honor. Herzer will be making the trek in a Sebring Orange 2019 Corvette. Corvettes of all styles and colors will be in the caravan group.
Herzer will be arriving in Carson City on Thursday, will he will be greeted by Michael Hohl, sponsor of the Reno Corvette Club. The group will have dinner at the officers club of nearby Fallon Naval Air Station, then depart for Bowling Green the following morning.
The route will begin on US 50, with the group stopping at various points of interest along the way en route to the National Corvette Museum. Herzer’s story is just one of many, as several groups will be heading to the museum from all over the United States.
It’s a great way to celebrate a 25th anniversary if you ask us. It seems like Corvette people really know how to party!
