Low-Mileage C4 ZR-1 Pops Up on Bring A Trailer
Low mileage and excellent condition make this C4 Corvette ZR-1 a “must buy” collector’s item.
Looking to lose a few hours’ worth of productivity? Point your browser to Bring A Trailer and enjoy. There’s an embarrassment of riches for classic car fans — and plenty of Corvettes to drool over.
Today’s find is one of our favorite Corvettes of all time, a C4 ZR1. We don’t need to tell you the score, because you already know, but here goes: a Lotus-designed, Mercury Marine-built LT5 V8 boasting four camshafts, 32 valves, 375 horsepower, and 370 lb/ft of torque.
A wide-body rear, pushing overall width to 74″ versus 71″ on the standard C4, housed some truly monstrous P315/ 35ZR-17 Goodyear Gatorbacks that were designed specifically for the ZR-1. The ZR-1 was also equipped with an electronically adjustable suspension, the first of its kind on a Corvette.
Despite the advent of bigger and badder Corvettes in the years since, the C4 ZR-1 still holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts. For C4 lovers, it’s the king of the hill.
The 1992 model seen here is a particularly tidy example. According to the ad, the car has lived with the same family since 1995. The odometer shows just 24,000 miles.
The car is mostly original. At some point, the owner fitted later ZR-1 wheels wrapped with Nitto tires, along with a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust. The car was subject to a repaint in 1999. From the photos, it still looks great today.
The seller changed all of the fluids and replaced the battery during last month’s service. The interior looks to be as clean as you’d expect for a 24,000 mile car, but the seller advises that several of the speakers are non-functional.
Save for the stereo system, it seems like everything inside works as it should. While it’s true that many C4 ZR-1s have led similarly pampered lives, this would be a nice example to bring home, in our opinion.
As of this writing, the bidding was only up to $10,000. We expect the car to sell for much more, however, with the hammer likely falling somewhere in the low-mid $20,000 range.
