Youtuber can’t contain his laughter at the raw acceleration of the C7 Z06.
We have watched professionals and race car drivers alike wrestle with the 650-horsepower Corvette Z06. On the road or the race track, these experienced pros all mention the brutality of the experience, and also say that it can be easy to get in over your head.
So what happens when you toss the keys of a C7Z to normal car enthusiast? Well, as Youtube channel The Golden Drive shows, it’s a lot to process at once.
Host Ufuoma Elvis-Obukowho, who goes by Elvis, is all smiles behind the wheel of the Z06, especially after he fires it up. Of course, the smiles quickly turn into hysterical laughter once he lays into the throttle.
After rolling on and off the throttle several times, working the 7-speed manual transmission between second, third and fourth gear over and over, Elvis finally regains enough composure to start his review, and, right away, sets the tone for the video. He exclaims, “it doesn’t feel fast, but you look down and you’re doing quadruple the speed limit.” So much for not incriminating himself, as he mentions just seconds before.
Still, the host is beside himself with the raw acceleration that the Z06 is capable of. After qualifying his opinions by comparing the Z against a 600WHP Nissan GT-R he previously drove, Elvis carries on, saying that “for the money, there is nothing that beats this car.” We couldn’t agree more.

What follows is Elvis continually trying to come to terms with just how powerful the Z06 is, especially for a road car. However, after several more minutes of giddy laughter, and a few rolling third gear burnouts, the host changes tone. While he loves what the Z06 is capable of, and how utterly nutty the experience is, he questions just how much more performance can be jammed into the C7 platform. He wonders aloud about the 755-horsepower Corvette ZR1 before switching gears to his final thoughts: Yes, the Z06 is absolutely hilarious fun to drive, but, for him, there might be more day-to-day enjoyment had in the less powerful, and easier to wring out Corvette Stingray, perhaps even a convertible for a bit more flair and everyday fun.
So, Corvette Forum, what do you think? Are models like the C7 Z06 and ZR1 too powerful for everyday use, or are they just right?
