Drifting is undoubtedly fun to watch. Mega-horsepower machines sliding around a track, evaporating tires until they’re nothing more than pure smoke. It’s a sport that takes real skill, as even minor mistakes can result in disaster. Especially when you’re drifting around some regular roads and not a track with plenty of run-off to save you. It’s even better when you’re following along via “Super Vision” behind a 1,000 horsepower drift Corvette.

And that’s exactly what we get to do in this mesmerizing video from HeatWaveVisual. Thanks to their admittedly incredible technology, we get to ride along with Pro Drifter Matt Field as he slings his Corvette racer around some breathtaking mountain roads. It’s quite simply visceral overload, and we love every second of it.

If watching this Corvette tackle a curvy mountain road sideways at speed isn’t enough to get your heart racing, we don’t know what will. And that’s exactly what Field does with insane skill. We’re talking about a pretty narrow road to begin with, after all. And when your car is on the brink of control and losing control, the stakes increase significantly.

But at the end, it’s just another day at the office for a guy who does this kind of stuff for a living. Since 2009, in fact, when Field first joined the Pro Drift ranks. He even builds his own cars and does his own fabrication, which is something most racers can’t claim. But his C6 Corvette is what we’d call the pinnacle of that experience.

And it’s a good thing that he knows how to repair his cars, because Field has already wrecked this thing a couple of times. But as they say, that’s what happens when you live life on the edge!
