Screening of 2011 doc The Quest will give Corvette fans a fascinating look at the history of the car and those responsible for saving it.

Set to take place from Feb. 22 to 24, Florida’s Winter AutoFest Lakeland is already shaping up to be a very inviting experience for Corvette fans. After all, the event is hosting the 41st NCRS Winter Regional Meet along with the National Corvette Museum’s official store plus special celebrity guests and plenty of Corvette-specific vendors. PLus, an addition to the 2019 edition of Carlisle Events’ popular annual Corvette showcase is an encore screening of the 2011 documentary The Quest.

The movie documents legendary Corvette racer Briggs Cunningham and his efforts racing three different cars at Le Mans. Of the trio, only #3 finished the race. But driver John Fitch brought home a class win and earned its place in Corvette lore. Following the race, all three cars were returned to stock and sold through a Chevy dealer, only to disappear for many years.

The Quest documents all of the events leading up to and including the Corvette trio at Le Mans, and it shows what happened to the cars afterward. The movie also focuses on Chip Miller. The renowned Corvette enthusiast worked incredibly hard to find the #3 car and return it to France, along with Fitch, for the 50th anniversary of this historic win.

Sadly, Miller, who also co-founded Carlisle Events, passed away in 2004 after battling the rare disease Amyloidosis. But his son Lance Miller ultimately saw his father’s dream come true. The younger Miller, along with The Quest director Michael Brown, and Kevin Mackay, who also worked on the restoration of #3, will all be in attendance for the film’s Carlisle’s Winter AutoFest screening.

Attendees have the option to attend a VIP screening of The Quest on Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. Everyone else can catch the film at 5:30 on Feb. 23. In both cases, copies of the movie signed by Brown, Miller and Mackay will be available for sale. All proceeds go to benefit the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, and the trio will also host a Q&A session following the screenings.
