‘Corvette Forum’ Member Selling a Flawlessly Restored Big Block Corvette

Classic Corvette probably wasn’t this nice when it rolled off of the assembly line back in 1971.

Every Chevrolet Corvette is cool, but there is just something special about a big block-powered Stingray. The cars from the C3 generation with the 427- and 454-cubic inch V8 power plants were among the meanest of the muscle car era. They were also among the more expensive American cars at the time, making them relatively rare. The lower production numbers coupled with high performance have made the big block Corvette a popular collector’s item in today’s market.

Many Corvette fans would love to have a clean, C3 Stingray with a big block, but they can be hard to find for sale. When found, they could be rough, or they could be outrageously priced. Fortunately, the 1971 Corvette posted to the C3s for Sale section by “thelal1” is in incredible condition and it is priced reasonably.

When the OP posted this stunning 1971 Chevrolet Corvette for sale, he provided an extensive rundown of what has been done to the car to make it this sharp. He also included key identification numbers for the engine and transmission, verifying that this classic Stingray is a numbers-matching machine.

1971 Corvette LS5 Coupe, Matching numbers. 454 – 365hp, 4-speed, AC and Power steering. Power brakes were added. It has had frame off nut and bolt restoration. Everything has been gone through including engine rebuild and transmission. M20 Muncietransmission with 308 rear end gears. Matching numbers drivetrain, doesn’t get any better than this. Runs smooth and all components function properly. Recently repainted Brands Hatch green, its original color with green interior.

Frame has had a detail restoration, AO factory numbers stenciled upside down on passenger side of frame and all body mounts marked for shims needed by a brush mark as done on assembly. The suspension has been gone thru, no monies spared on this restoration. Every part, nut and bolt sand blasted, painted before reassembled. Flawlessly Restored Show Car

This 1971 Corvette is surely a blast to drive with the 454-cubic inch big block and the Muncie manual transmission. We sincerely hope that whoever buys it, drives it and enjoys it. However, this car looks absolutely flawless inside and out, so it would be a great show car.

The body of this Corvette looks great, but in fresh paint, that comes as no surprise. The undercarriage is just as clean as the body, and the interior follows suit. This 1971 Stingray truly looks to be perfect in every way; possibly better than when it was new. Thanks to modern paint technology, the quality of the paint and the application likely makes the body better looking than when it was new.

That being said, this Corvette is so sharp from every angle that it looks as though it could have been driven off of the pages of a classic Chevrolet ad in a magazine. When we think about a big block Corvette, this Stingray is what we picture, and we imagine that many people feel the same way. If you are one of those people and you have $42,500 in hand, this stunning C3 could be yours in time for the 2020 car show season.
